Alvaro is a Chilean writer and director based in New York City,where he is currently pursuing an MFA in film at Columbia University.

He has previously worked in documentary filmmaking, focusing on the ongoing effort to keep Latin American cultural roots alive in a dominant Western world.

His work also contends with the complex relationships between an individual and society, and their impact on personal identity. Building on these themes of identity, Alvaro's fiction work explores the construction of one's own identity in the presence of another, who acts as a mirror.
